National Governing Body
After Speaking with Durham Instep Dance Society, we wanted to find out if you all would be interested in us creating a National Governing Body (NGB) for University Dance clubs an societies.
With a NGB we could get recognised by Sports England and have University dance activities recognised as an organised sport! This will firstly help with dealing with Covid as we would be able to receive best practice guidance and create government-approved action plans to assist all dance clubs and societies.
There would also be a number of additional benefits of having a NGB, Imagine the following:
One communal place with all club/society contacts/info
One communal place for all university dance competition information
Competitions with the same/similar rules (e.g. time limits)
Historical data for all dance clubs and competitions
Regional Competitions
A Grand final at the end of the year
Increased sponsorship opportunities
Easier access to judges and teachers
A support network for dance clubs and societies
If this is something you would be interested in, please let us know, we have created a google form to get your feedback.

Competition FORMAT
Each team will perform their routine/set in front of 3 dedicated judges. Each judge will score each team out of 100 marks, leaving each team with 3 scores.
All team scores given by the same judge are then ranked against each other. (e.g. highest score given by Judge A = 1st, second highest given by Judge A = 2nd etc). This will leave every team with 3 ranks - 1 from each judge.
The 3 ranks for each team are then added up to give a final rank and the team with the highest total rank will be declared the winner. (e.g. Team A gets 2nd, 4th and 1st = 7th. Team B gets 3rd, 3rd, and 3rd = 9th. Team A has ranked higher).
In the event two or more teams have the same total rank, their combined score from all the judges is used as a decider with the team with the highest total score ranking higher.
