5v5 Crew rules

Music
The DJs will play random music covering a range of street styles.

Crew Composition
Each crew must have only 5 dancers

Dancers can only compete in one crew

Crew Etiquette
The crew that dances first decides to do a solo or a routine. The second crew must respond with the same (if crew A does a routine, Crew B must respond with a routine. If Crew A does a solo, Crew B must respond with a solo).

Solo Limits
The crew that dances first can choose to do a solo round for every round of the battle if they wish.
Crews can switch dancers during a solo round but the transition must not exceed 2 8counts.
A dancer cannot dance in 2 solo rounds in a row.

Routine Limits
A routine must be at least 4 8counts long and involve at least 2 dancers from the crew.
A crew can start or end a routine with a solo. The round will be considered a routine round.

Crews can only use a maximum of 1 routine per battle and a maximum of 2 routines for the final.

Round Time Limit
Preliminary stage: 30 seconds per round

Knockout stage: 45 seconds per round

Round Format
Preliminaries: 3 rounds (max 1 routine).
Quarterfinal: Best of 5 (max 1 routine).
 Semifinal: Best of 5 (
max 1 routine).
Final: Best of 9 (
max 2 routines).

Breaking any of the rules will result in you forfeiting that round

Battle format

 Preliminary stage
Prelims will be in a battle format, this will allow all dancers/crews to experience at least 1 battle each. Dancers/Crews will be called at random in pairs, the first dancer/crew called will dance first. It is possible for both dancers/crews of a prelim battle to progress to the knockout stage. Each dancer/crew will be judged as a whole and scored out of 100 based on our 3 criteria: Musicality, Quality of movement and Performance.

The top 8 dancers/crews with the highest score will progress to the knockout stage. In the event two or more dancers/crews have the same total score that affects them qualifying for the battles, then (time permitting) there will be a decider battle.

Knockout stage
Battles will be knockout style and dancers/crews will be seeded based on their preliminary score. The dancer/crew with the highest prelim score will always dance first and the dancer/crew with the lower prelim score will, always dance second. Once both dancers/crews have danced a round is complete.

At the end of each round, the judges will vote based on who they thought was better over the 3 criteria: Musicality, Quality of Movement and Performance (e.g. After round 1, Judge believes Dancer/Crew A displayed better musicality, but Dancer/Crew B was better in quality of movement and performance. Judge votes for Dancer/Crew B). The dancer/crew with the most votes, wins the round. (Judges are not allowed to tie). Once a dancer/crew has won the required amount of rounds, the battle will end.
