Battle format
Preliminary stage
Prelims will be in a battle format, this will allow all dancers/crews to experience at least 1 battle each. Dancers/Crews will be called at random in pairs, the first dancer/crew called will dance first. It is possible for both dancers/crews of a prelim battle to progress to the knockout stage. Each dancer/crew will be judged as a whole and scored out of 100 based on our 3 criteria: Musicality, Quality of movement and Performance.
The top 8 dancers/crews with the highest score will progress to the knockout stage. In the event two or more dancers/crews have the same total score that affects them qualifying for the battles, then (time permitting) there will be a decider battle.
Knockout stage
Battles will be knockout style and dancers/crews will be seeded based on their preliminary score. The dancer/crew with the highest prelim score will always dance first and the dancer/crew with the lower prelim score will, always dance second. Once both dancers/crews have danced a round is complete.
At the end of each round, the judges will vote based on who they thought was better over the 3 criteria: Musicality, Quality of Movement and Performance (e.g. After round 1, Judge believes Dancer/Crew A displayed better musicality, but Dancer/Crew B was better in quality of movement and performance. Judge votes for Dancer/Crew B). The dancer/crew with the most votes, wins the round. (Judges are not allowed to tie). Once a dancer/crew has won the required amount of rounds, the battle will end.
