Battle Format
Preliminary stage
Prelims will be in a battle format, this will allow all dancers to experience at least 1 battle each. Dancers will be called at random in pairs, the first dancer called will dance first. It is possible for both dancersof a prelim battle to progress to the knockout stage. Each dancer will be judged as a whole and scored out of 100 based on our 3 criteria: Musicality, Quality of movement and Performance.
The top 16 dancers (8 for 16&U) with the highest score will progress to the knockout stage. In the event two or more dancers have the same total score that affects them qualifying for the battles, then (time permitting) there will be a decider battle.
Knockout stage
Battles will be knockout style and dancers will be seeded based on their preliminary score. The dancer with the highest prelim score will always dance first and the dancer with the lower prelim score will, always dance second. Once both dancers have danced a round is complete.
At the end of each round, the judges will vote based on who they thought was better over the 3 criteria: Musicality, Quality of Movement and Performance (e.g. After round 1, Judge believes Dancer A displayed better musicality, but Dancer B was better in quality of movement and performance. Judge votes for Dancer). The dancer with the most votes, wins the round. (Judges are not allowed to tie). Once a dancer has won the required amount of rounds, the battle will end.

CHOREOGRAPHY Format
Preliminary Stage
Each team will submit their performances for the judges to review before the competition.
The judges will determine whether the team is in the correct category or not. If a team is moved to a different category by the judges, they will be notified.
Running Order
The team running order will be randomised using Random.org. If a team is moved to a different category from the preliminary stage, their position will be randomised.
Before Performing
Teams will be ready to perform at least 1 category prior to their own.
Teams will go to the hallway waiting area at least 4 dances before their turn.
Teams will be taken to the back of the dance floor and then enter from stage left
Performance
Each team will walk on stage and get into a ready position. Once all dancers are still, their music will start. Teams will perform in front of the judges once.
Teams should exit from stage left once their performance has finished.
Scoring
Each team will be scored by 3 dedicated judges out of 100 marks, leaving each team with 3 scores.
All team scores given by the same judge are then ranked against each other. (e.g. highest score given by Judge A = 1st, second highest given by Judge A = 2nd etc). This will leave every team with 3 ranks - 1 from each judge.
The 3 ranks for each team are then added up to give a final rank and the team with the highest total rank will be declared the winner. (e.g. Team A gets 2nd, 4th and 1st = 7th. Team B gets 3rd, 3rd, and 3rd = 9th. Team A has ranked higher).
In the event two or more teams have the same total rank, their combined score from all the judges is used as a decider with the team with the highest total score ranking higher.
