UDC faq
WHY DID YOU INTRODUCE THE PRELIM round?
The Prelim round was introduced to make sure that every team is in the correct category and level so that the competition is fair. We understand that it can be hard to know for certain what category you should enter and we know there are instances of teams being in the wrong category or wrong level. We hope to eliminate that issue with the Prelim round.
Why do you use rank instead of score?
The reason total rank is used over total score is to negate any bias from the judges. one super high or low score can give one team a huge advantage or disadvantage. Using rank allows each judges scoring to have equal weight ( highest score =1, second highest score=2) and negate bias.
Do we need to use all of the time limit?
Performances are judged based on their quality, not length. You do not have to use the maximum time limit if you don't have to.
Can we add our competition to the University Dance Calendar?
Yes you can, please send us your competition details and an info pack to [email protected].
Do we need to pay per category?
No the entry fee allows you to compete in as many categories as you like.
.
.
Is there a limit to how many categories we can enter?
No, you can enter into as many categories as you like.
Can we practice on the stage?
Unfortunately due to the time restraints of the competition, no team will be allowed to practice on stage. There will be a practice area available on the Level 4 Foyer.
I am not sure what category to enter?
Try to pick the category which you think best fits. Our judges will check you performance in the preliminary round and make sure you are in the correct category and level. If you are unsure of what level to enter, choose a lower level as you can only be moved up in the prelim round.
